Configure OpenOffice

Before you can access the MySQL database from OpenOffice, you must add the JDBC driver JAR to the OpenOffice classpath.

Start OpenOffice Writer, Click Tools -> Options... and select OpenOffice.org -> Java as seen below. The use of a Java runtime environment should be activated as shown.

Hit the “Class Path...” button.

Press “Add Archive...” and select the JDBC driver JAR from the extracted Connector/J folder as shown below:

Click “Open” and then “OK”.

You must restart OpenOffice for this change to take effect.
